From the first online entry to a live draw on stage and a brand-new heat pump in the winner’s home. Here’s how it all happened, step by step.

    The giveaway

    Delta Air Solutions teamed up with Daikin to give away a Daikin Alira Premium 2.5 kW heat pump with standard installation. Entries were taken through an online entry form here on deltaair.co.nz.

    The live draw

    Punjabi Virsa 2026 — Diwali Mela

    BNZ Theatre, Hamilton • 27 September 2026

    After the concert, the entries went into our prize-draw wheel and it was spun live on stage. The winner was announced from the stage there and then.

  3. Chapter 3

    The phone call

    We rang Kevin with the good news. At first it sounded too good to be true (“you get all these scams out here”), but it was real.

    “I was over the moon when you rang.”

Chapter 4

Installation day

Our team came out to Kevin’s home in Ngaruawahia. The indoor unit went upstairs, so the pipework runs all the way down the outside wall to the outdoor unit. Here’s the day, step by step.

    Indoor bracket goes upThe wall bracket for the indoor unit is fixed high in the upstairs room.
  3. 3
    Outdoor unit and pipeworkThe outdoor unit goes on its stand and the pipework runs down the outside wall.
  4. 4
    Vacuum testA digital gauge checks the refrigerant lines are sealed and dry before the gas goes in.
  5. 5
    Electrical checksWiring connected and tested with a multifunction tester.
  6. 6
    Outside, finishedThe Daikin R32 outdoor unit, with a neat pipe cover up to the room above.
  7. 7
    Inside, finishedThe Daikin Alira indoor unit, mounted and ready to go.
  8. 8
    Final walk-aroundOne last look along the house before the hand-over.
