Waikato winters are cold and damp, with plenty of frosty mornings. A correctly sized and properly installed heat pump makes a big difference. Here's what to expect when you get a heat pump installed with us, whether you're in Hamilton, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Morrinsville or anywhere else in the Waikato.
Free in-home assessment
We visit your home, look at the rooms you want to heat, and check the insulation, glazing, ceiling space and power supply. We'll talk about how you use the house so we can recommend the right size and type of heat pump. It's free and there's no obligation.
Written fixed-price quote
You get a clear written quote with the model, the heating capacity and exactly what the installation includes. Anything beyond a standard install, like extra pipework or a switchboard upgrade, is listed and agreed before work starts. See what a heat pump installation costs.
Installation day
- We protect your floors and furniture and confirm the positions with you.
- The indoor unit goes on the wall and the outdoor unit on a base or bracket outside.
- Pipework and cabling are run neatly and covered with trunking outside.
- Condensate drainage is fitted so water goes where it should.
- A registered electrician completes the electrical connection.
- The system is pressure tested, leak tested and vacuumed before it's commissioned.
A standard back-to-back installation is usually completed in a single visit.
Testing and handover
We run the system, check it's heating and cooling properly, and show you how to use the controller or app, including the best settings for winter. We clean up and take the packaging away.
Aftercare
We're based in Gordonton, minutes from Hamilton, Huntly and Ngāruawāhia, so we're easy to reach if you need us. We also offer heat pump servicing to keep your system running efficiently.
What we check in Waikato homes
Frosty mornings inland. Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Morrinsville and Matamata get hard frosts. We recommend heat pumps that keep their heating output on cold mornings, sized for your coldest room rather than an average day.
Older villas and bungalows. Many Waikato homes have high ceilings and mixed insulation. We look at the insulation, ceiling height and draughts before recommending a size, so the heat pump isn’t working flat out all winter.
Rural and lifestyle properties. We check the power supply and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units before quoting. Longer pipe runs or an electrical upgrade are listed in your quote up front.
Raglan and the coast. Salt air is hard on outdoor units, so we’ll recommend where to put the outdoor unit, how to protect it and how to look after it.
Areas we cover
We install and service heat pumps right across the Waikato: from Huntly, Taupiri and Ngāruawāhia in the north, through Gordonton and Hamilton, to Cambridge and Te Awamutu in the south, Morrinsville and Matamata to the east and Raglan on the coast. We also work across Auckland and the Bay of Plenty.
Brands we install
Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Haier and AHI Carrier. Read our comparison of the best heat pump brands in NZ.
